Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein Transfection Reagent (formerly Pro-Ject) is a cationic lipid mixture for complexation with proteins, peptides, antibodies and other biologically active molecules to allow their direct intracellular delivery.
Features of Protein Transfection Reagent:
? No need to isolate, clone and transfect gene sequences—Saves days of work.
? Optimum delivery in three to four hours after incubation—Fast protein delivery.
? Delivery complex is non-covalent—Proteins and peptides retain biological activity after delivery.
? Works with proteins, peptides and fluorescently labeled antibodies—Versatility.
This is a unique cationic lipid mixture (previously called Pro-Ject Reagent) which, when complexed with proteins or peptides, allows direct intracellular delivery of proteins, peptides, antibodies and other biologically active molecules. Reagent protein complexes attach to negatively charged cell surfaces and either can directly fuse with the membrane and deliver the captured protein into the cell or be endocytosed by the cell and then fuse with the endosome, releasing the captured protein into the cytoplasm. Because the complex formed is noncovalent it does not interfere with the protein's biological activity.
Molecules that have been successfully delivered with the transfection reagent include β-galactosidase, fluorescent-antibody, green fluorescent protein (GFP), high and low molecular weight dextran sulfate, phycoerythrin-BSA, caspase 3, caspase 8 and granzyme B.
